Rock Harbor At
Low Tide, this is the
channel the boats use at
high tide.

- Scallop
Drag'ers, Rock Harbor, Orleans, Ma.
A very dangerous occupation, I have lost several
friends at sea from scalloper mishaps.
Here is a recent story about such an incident.

Holidays have
always been a big deal for me and my family. It is really the only time
we can slow down take a deep breath and enjoy each others company
without being in a rush to go somewhere or do something. Laziness
abounds ... (except for the cooks), round after round of food is served
until no one can eat another bite. We laugh, joke about embarrassing
things the kids did, and kid each other relentlessly, but it is all in
good fun. There is always a game of horseshoes going on, the
competition runs from one holiday to the next... We enjoy being
together at these special times.
It's too bad that in this day and time it has to be so seldom that only
Holidays bring us all together. In years gone past families were more
apt to have family outings for no reason, but in this day there simply
isn't enough time for most families, with both parents working just to
make ends meet. Kids have schedules as busy as their parents.
My thought is that the world needs to slow down a bit and enjoy what
little time we have here on this earth, and may forego some of those
fancy toys. We move so fast we never even get to know each other,
let alone enjoy each other.
